The Design Center is on track to open in late February 2009. It will be the destination for building and interior design professionals in the Northwest and their clients. In one place, The Design Center will offer more than 23 interior home spaces that showcase the finest in design trends, the highest quality materials, finishes and furniture, and the latest in electronics and appliances.

Located at 2127 S. Highway 97, The Design Center is the brainchild of Ron Lusk, a Central Oregon-based developer. He worked closely with Traci Porterfield, partner with Circa Interiors in Bend, to create his vision of one large space where homeowners can make a lot of the detailed decisions on home decorating in a concentrated period of time with the expert help of their interior designers and building contractors.

In one place, designers, builders and their clients will experience a wide range of high-end options without having to travel all over Central Oregon. Located in Redmond, The Design Center is central to all of the region, making it convenient to all the home building in the region, and to people traveling frequently to and from Central Oregon via Roberts Field.

“We are extremely pleased with the progress of this project,” said Lusk. “The building, the design and the tenant-partners are all coming together smoothly. I believe this is because many of the business owners we’re working with understand that The Design Center will be the destination for designers, builders and their clients when building and remodeling.  This is an opportunity to think boldly and creatively and we’re very excited about the companies currently on board.”

The Design Center is a unique collaboration of many of Central Oregon’s best design and building resources, Lusk continued. Rather than leasing space, the tenant partners will join together to have their merchandise and services featured in various room settings covering more than 11,000 square feet. The Design Center interior home-spaces, designed by Porterfield, include seven kitchens, two bathrooms, a home theatre, bedroom, wine cellar, dining room, home office, garage, laundry room, closets, living room and family room.

According to Porterfield, “Touring The Design Center will be an intimate and inspiring experience. Clients will be able to see and touch the beautiful surfaces and furnishings, and gather ideas. Then, they can easily use their list of ‘things I love’ to order directly from the participating businesses.”
Tenant-partners currently participating in The Design Center include Summers Flooring & Design, Standard TV & Appliance, Fireside, Springtime Landscape & Irrigation, Cascade Garage Door, Area Rug Connection, A Room With a View, Stonecutters Inc., Quadrant Systems, Cement Elegance, Home Storage Solutions, Haven Home, QB Lighting & Design, Bella Flor, Broken Top Window Coverings and Design Cabinetry.

“We believe these are some of the finest businesses representing their specialties in Central Oregon,” Lusk said. “They represent the high quality and professionalism that people building high-end homes expect. And it’s an excellent way for local businesses to showcase their products, services and installations at a low-overhead and in a unique and convenient setting.”
