The Deschutes County Road Department announced it joined Oregon OSHA’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program, an employee safety program.

Oregon OSHA will welcome the road department into SHARP this month, a program that provides incentives for Oregon employers to work with their employees to find and correct hazards and develop and implement safety strategies. Currently, 137 employers in Oregon participate in SHARP, including 73 employment locations that have graduated from the program.

The DCRD manages 830 miles of county roads and 66 bridges. It employs 64 full-time workers and began working toward SHARP two years ago.
