  • Big wins, big rewards

Last year’s champions Anthony Paolucci of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Kristen Park of Buena Park, Calif., went on to be named the 2010 Rolex Junior Players of the Year. In all, 18 past champions went on to earn Rolex Junior Player of the Year accolades.

  • Jutanugarn domination

In 2011, the Jutanugarn sisters, Moriya and Ariya, have finished one-two in two events. Moriya secured victories at both the Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic hosted by Longbow Golf Club and the Scott Robertson Memorial Tournament while Moriya finished right behind her. Both picked up a top-10 finish in May’s Thunderbird International Junior and Ariya recently claimed top honors at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship (Moriya finished fifth). Beau Hossler of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., returns to junior golf competition after competing in the 2011 U.S. Open at Congressional Country Club. Hossler has three AJGA victories to his name and is looking for his first win in 2011.
  • Can Tanco take it back?

Victoria Tanco of Bradenton, Fla., is back for her fourth appearance at the Rolex Tournament of Champions. Will her first win of 2011 be to reclaim the crown she earned in 2009?

Media Accommodations
The AJGA is prepared to make covering the Rolex Tournament of Champions an enjoyable experience. Whether it be on-site professional communications staff or timely results, the AJGA is ready to honor all media requests. At the event, the AJGA will provide:

  • Information about the tournament and its participants leading up to the event
  • Assistance with player interviews before, during and after the tournament
  • A golf cart to make covering the tournament as easy as possible
  • Assistance locating players on the course
  • A recap with results after each tournament round in a timely manner

The AJGA will have communications representatives on hand to assist the media. These media officials will write an AP Style recap and produce agate results each tournament day. Interviews with AJGA Tournament Directors, Tournament Chairmen and juniors can be conducted before or after every round.

The AJGA website, ajga.org, is a tremendous media resource. The tournament website, which is linked from the AJGA homepage, includes recaps, results, list of participants, tee times, live scoring, scorecards and sponsor information.

About the Sponsor
Along with the sponsorship of the Rolex Junior Players of the Year, Rolex Junior All-America Teams and Rolex Junior All-America Awards Banquet, the distinguished timepiece manufacturer also continues to support two of the AJGA’s most competitive major championships: the Rolex Tournament of Champions and the Rolex Girls Junior Championship.

Rolex is also the Founding Corporate Partner of the Achieving Competitive Excellence Grant. The ACE Grant is designed to give top-flight junior golfers the ability to play a national junior golf schedule regardless of their financial resources. In 2010, with the help of Rolex and various individual donors, 95 junior golfers were able to compete in events they otherwise could not afford.

About the AJGA

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and more than 40 countries. To ensure scholarship opportunities for all junior golfers who have the skill, the AJGA created the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program to provide financial assistance to young players in need.

Titleist, the AJGA’s National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association’s success since 1989. Rolex, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA’s second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. Former AJGA juniors have compiled more than 500 victories on the PGA and LPGA Tours. AJGA alumni include Stewart Cink, Matt Kuchar, Hunter Mahan, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Inbee Park and Morgan Pressel.
