Prior to the scramble, participants are invited to join a Short Game Clinic led by OSU Women’s Golf coaches Risë Alexander and Kailin Downs. A legend at OSU, Coach Alexander is now entering her 24th year as head coach of the Women’s Golf team. Under her guidance, the team has been a consistent postseason contender with 10 team appearances at NCAA Regional events. Her 1998 squad became the first OSU women’s team to qualify for the NCAA Championships, and she was named Far West District Coach of the Year. In her time at OSU, she has had players earn Pac-10 All-Academic honors 22 times and NCGA All-American Scholar status 13 times. Alexander’s coaching philosophy centers around recognizing the individual talents of each of her players. “Every person has different talents, different interests, different swings and different self-talk,” Alexander said.

A graduate of Mountain View High School in Bend and of the University of New Mexico, Coach Kailin Downs is beginning her fifth season as assistant coach. She was named Standout Player at UNM, and was a four-time All Mountain West Conference selection and a two-time Mountain West Conference Player of the Year.

The Clinic begins at 12:00 p.m. and the shotgun scramble starts at 2:00 p.m. The registration fee of $125 per person or $500 per team of four includes the clinic, greens fee for 18 holes of golf on the Broken Top course, cart, prizes and a dinner served at the Club’s Lakehouse when players finish their rounds of play.  Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, for long drives and closest to pin.
