Downtown Bend Farmer’s Market Relocates

The Downtown Bend Farmer’s Market will be relocating the market for the remainder of the season starting this Wednesday, August 17. The market will move a few yards to the Mirror Pond Parking lot adjacent to its current location in Drake Park. A portion of the parking lot will remain open for the upcoming nine Wednesdays of the market season through October 12.

“We all agree that the Downtown Bend Farmer’s Market is an essential event for the community, downtown businesses and the farmers. Everyone wants the market to be successful and accessible to all,” says Katrina Wiest, Bend Farmer’s Market Manager.

The move was initiated by advocates who raised concerns to City Council about the accessibility of the market in its current location in Drake Park. The grass slopes and uneven surface make it difficult for people with disabilities to access the market. Moving the market to a temporary adjacent location was the only option for the market to remain open and viable for the season.

“The market is about helping all of our community access good, healthy food. This move will allow the market to continue for the season and make it more accessible to all customers, “says Bend Farmer’s Market Board Member Therese Madrigal.

The market will be discussing a more permanent Downtown Bend location in the off-season.
