Building a Better Bend Lecture with Mary Bosch

Economic development expert Mary Bosch to apply her knowledge to the Bend community on October 11.

Nonprofit organization Building a Better Bend announced that it has confirmed its second lecture 2011 season. The lecture will be held at the Riverbend Community Room at the Bend Metro Park and Recreation District main building at 799 SW Columbia Street in Bend on Tuesday, October 11, 7-9pm.

Mary Bosch, principal, Marketek, economic development and consulting planner will speak on Drawing People to Neighborhood Shopping Districts and Creating Value.

Bosch is highly experienced with the Main Street approach and every facet of the economic development process from the perspective of the small business owner to the developer to the downtown development professional. In the downtown development arena, she has conducted business and economic development assignments for over 170 communities throughout the United States on market analysis, business retention and recruitment programming, niche marketing and cluster planning. 

During this lecture, Bosch will discuss creating a vision and identity that will draw people to neighborhood centers. She will cover the elements of a vital business district, citing examples of where things are progressing in the right direction. She will tie it back around to specific areas in Bend and what each is trying to accomplish, along with recommendations for next steps.
