Domestic Violence Awareness Month at the Old Mill District

Saving Grace announce its partnership with the Old Mill District for the month of October and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Purple is the color of hope and can be seen all over the Old Mill District this month. Purple flags, lights on the trees and posters decorate the Center Plaza area and both foot bridges at the Old Mill to show support for victims and survivors of domestic violence.

Together as a community we can take a stance against domestic violence, showing everyone it is not tolerated here in Central Oregon.

In addition to the purple decorations, many stores at the Old Mill have stepped up their awareness efforts with purple lights in their windows, purple ribbons and t-shirts on mannequins that display the message Love Shouldn’t Hurt. Thanks goes to Serendipity, Vanilla Urban Threads, Desperado, American Eagle, Strictly Organic, Ginger’s Kitchenware, Mio Sushi and Acadia Footwear who are among nearly 15 stores and restaurants showing additional support this month.

You will also find a clothesline display in honor of the month in the old Ann Taylor Loft window front. Everyone is encouraged to make a trip to see the display which features facts and statistics on domestic violence in our community and the country as a whole.

This Friday, join the Old Mill’s Art Walk to see art created by Saving Grace clients in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Acadia Footwear, Ginger’s Kitchenware, Strictly Organic, Serendipity and Vanilla Urban Threads will be displaying this art during the Art Walk this Friday evening as another awareness initiative for the month of October.
