The Oregon Law School Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Frohnmayer Award for Public Service. This annual award recognizes individuals whose service to the community advances the reputation of Oregon Law. Nominations of Oregon Law graduates, colleagues, friends or faculty members, who embody the Frohnmayer Award’s characteristics of distinguished public service, are welcomed.

The 2011 Frohnmayer Award recipient, Duncan Campbell ’73, was selected due to his lifetime of commitment to public service in law. He is known for founding Friends of the Children, a nonprofit organization that matches at-risk youth with professional mentors who provide long-term support and guidance for each child. Now working in nine cities across the nation, Friends of the Children is recognized as a pioneering model for mentoring youth.

In addition to his work with disadvantaged children, Campbell gave generous program support to Oregon Law in 2005, with the purpose of teaching law students child-advocacy skills and making systematic legal changes to promote child welfare. Campbell truly exemplified the qualities sought in a recipient of the Frohnmayer Award and we are certain you know of an Oregon Law graduate, or friend who demonstrates similar public service.

Previous Frohnmayer Award recipients include: Honorable Ellen Rosenblum and Richard Meeker (2010), Barbara Bader Aldave (2009), Chief Justice Edwin Peterson (2008), Justice Hans A. Linde (2007), Honorable Clifford Freeman (2006), Lawrence Aschenbrenner (2005), Honorable Alfred Goodwin (2004), Hardy Meyers (2003), and Dave Frohnmayer (2002)

This year, the Frohnmayer Award for Public Service ceremony and dinner will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012, at The Nines in Portland. Submit your nomination for this award by visiting http://www.uoregonlaw.com/faps12. Nominations must be submitted by Nov. 18, 2011.
