At 10am Wednesday, December 21, The Riverhouse, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, City of Bend Police and the La Pine Christmas Basket Association will be assembling Holiday Food Baskets with enough food to feed 2,400 people in the Bend-La Pine area. Families in need will receive over 6000 pounds of food thanks to The Riverhouse and donations from some of their suppliers, including Sysco Foods, Diageo Wine, Precept Wine, Big Sky Brewery and ODOM Southern Distributing.

This is the ninth year in which these organizations have banned together in order to provide food baskets for families in the Central Oregon area. Baskets will include all the trimmings to feed 2400 people this Christmas. The La Pine Christmas Basket Association will provide the turkeys, while The Riverhouse and their suppliers provide green beans, corn, assorted bread rolls, potatoes, and even apple pies.

“This is a monumental year for this important project”, stated Wayne Purcell, Managing Partner at The Riverhouse. “Since beginning this program nine years ago, we have now helped provide enough food to feed over 20,000 people in our community over the holiday season. It has been a great partnership which has helped ensure that those in need have a good Christmas dinner”.

The media is encouraged to arrive at this event at 9:45am in the upper parking lot of The Riverhouse on Wednesday as law enforcement officers will begin transferring and loading the food to be distributed.
