Ad Federation Announces New Oregon ADDY Awards

Goodbye Drakes, Hello ADDYs! The Advertising Federation of Central Oregon (AdFed) announce The 2012 ADDY Awards, formerly called the Drake Awards, has evolved into a statewide event welcoming advertising and marketing professionals to participate. The ADDY Awards represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types, creative by all sizes and entrants of all levels.

Call for entries will begin January 18, 2012 at Combined Communications in Bend and can also be mailed.

“We are excited to evolve the annual awards event into a statewide endeavour,” said Georell Bracelin, AdFed of Central Oregon president. “The goal of the expansion is to enable advertising and marketing professionals statewide to enter the awards and raise awareness of the best creative work the state has to offer.”

AdFed of Central Oregon is the only American Advertising Federation (AAF) affiliated club in Oregon, so any company outside of Central Oregon that would like to compete at a regional level in the ADDYs can enter the competition directly.

The Drake Awards have been around since the early 1990s and, although the venue and theme have changed over the years, the award structure has remained relatively the same. Those entries that win a Gold or Silver Award are automatically forwarded to the next level of competition, via AAF’s District XI. District XI includes Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska.  Gold winners from the District XI level are then eligible to compete in the AAF National ADDY Awards.

Nearly all 500 Ad Federations throughout the country have their own ADDY Award events. And there are other states in the country that host statewide ADDY competitions rather than individual competitions throughout the state.

Watch the AdFed website and newsletter for more information about the entry process and awards gala. If you are interested in becoming involved with the event or the planning committee, contact JoAnn Hand at joann@pinnaclemediainc.com.
