Golf Balls Now On Sale for July 29 Wendy’s Wish Golf Ball Drop fundraiser

Nearly 5,000 golf balls will rain down on Riverbend Park July 29 to raise funds for Wendy’s Wish, an organization dedicated to helping cancer patients and increasing awareness of regular screenings for the early detection of colon cancer.

Created in honor of Wendy Huntley — a wife, mother, teacher and a friend to many — Wendy’s Wish offers support to patients throughout their cancer journeys. This includes the provision of funding for non-medical living expenses such as transportation, utility payments and groceries so that patients may focus their energy on healing.

On July 29, numbered balls representing prizes donated by the community will be dropped by a Leading Edge Aviation helicopter onto a grid featuring golf holes sponsored by Miller Ford Madras, M Jacobs Fine Furniture, Pro Golf of Bend and Broken Top Golf Club. Prizes will be awarded based on the distance the golf balls land relative to the four primary sponsor holes.

Numbered golf balls will be sold throughout the spring and summer at local events and featured locations. Golf balls are $5 each, or $20 for five. Buyers will receive receipts representing their purchased golf balls.

Contributions, which are tax deductible, are also welcome. To make a donation or volunteer, contact Al Huntley at 541-788-5366 or Daryl Hjeresen 541-419-5736.
