Who: Skanska’s Central Oregon office celebrates the completion of Redmond School District’s Ridgeview High School (RVHS) with a grand opening ceremony.

What: Skanska completed the $74 million (total project cost, construction value of $63M) new construction project for the Redmond School District, Ridgeview High School. The project kicked off in 2009 and opened in September 2012, in time for the 2012-2013 school year.

The 278,000-square-foot school is on 55-acres of land at the intersection of Canal and Elkhorn. The 1,400-capacity building includes 32 classrooms, 17 labs, and world-class athletics complex and theatrical facilities.

More than 70 percent of the construction budget was spent with local vendors and subcontractors, which equates to $44 million directly back into the local economy.

Project Description: Ridgeview High School, part of the Redmond school district, was backed by voters through a $110 million bond package passed in 2008, primarily to alleviate overcrowding at neighboring Redmond High School.

The 278,000-square-foot school is on 55-acres of land at the intersection of Canal and Elkhorn. The 1,400-capacity building includes 32 classrooms, 17 labs, and world-class athletics complex and theatrical facilities.

Local Impact: More than 70 percent of the $63 million construction value went to Central Oregon subcontractors and suppliers.

Amenities: Ridgeview features: classroom space, common areas, career technology education wing, theatre, gymnasium, administrative areas and circulation areas.

The sports complex includes: dedicated varsity and JV facilities for football, soccer, baseball, softball, track, and tennis, including support buildings and spectator seating areas.

Sustainable Features: The project was designed and constructed with the intent of earning LEED Gold certification.

Awards Earned: Ridgeview High School was awarded the Construction Management Association of America’s “2012 Project of the Year” award in the “over $20M” category.
