The Shepherd’s House Urgently Needs Clothing, Sleeping Bag Donations

Donations of clothing, sleeping bags and blankets have completely dried up at The Shepherd’s House. The organization has very few of these items to share with the homeless and people in need. There have been a few sunny days in the Bend area recently, but night time temperatures still drop into the 20s, making warm clothing and sleeping bags essential to survival to those who are homeless.

Each day The Shepherd’s House the homeless can access clothing, a meal, hygiene items and other essentials. The Shepherd’s House provides over 24,000 meals per year and over 10,000 nights of shelter. The Shepherd’s House offers even more; a pathway out of homelessness through their discipleship and habilitation recovery program.

“Simple items like coats, socks and sleeping bags are survival gear to someone who is homeless. If the residents of our community could do an early spring cleaning and bring us gently used coats, pants, gloves, sleeping bags and backpacks, it would be a huge help.  We are also very low on new items like socks, underwear and t-shirts,” said Cash Lowe, Program Director at The Shepherd’s House.

The Shepherd’s House is seeking donations of warm clothing, coats, socks, sleeping bags and blankets. Items may be dropped off at The Shepherd’s House on Division street near Revere street.  Financial donations can be made securely online at www.myshepherdshouse.org or mailed to P.O. Box 5484, Bend, Oregon 97701 or call 541-388-2096.
