Deschutes County Announces County Administrator Interview Candidates, Invites Public to Reception

Deschutes County announces seven candidates who will interview for the County Administrator position in Bend on February 2-4. The public is invited to meet the candidates at a reception on Thursday, February 2, 5:30-7pm. The reception will be held in the Deschutes Services Building, 1300 NW Wall Street, Bend, in the Barnes/Sawyer conference rooms on the first floor. Each candidate will give a short speech at the beginning of the reception, and then talk informally with reception guests.

The County Administrator is appointed by and serves at the discretion of the Board of County Commissioners. Interim County Administrator Erik Kropp did not apply for the County Administrator position. He will return to his position as Deputy County Administrator when the Administrator position is filled.

Candidates and last three positions:

Dave Benda: Marketing Consultant, Benda Consulting, LLC; President, Public Employee Benefits Solutions, LLC; County Administrator/Controller, Midland County, MI.

Randy Evers: Executive Director, Oregon Racing Commission; Personal Income Tax and Compliance Division Administrator, Oregon Department of Revenue; Business Tax Division Administrator, Oregon Department of Revenue.

Michael Freilinger: Senior Partner, Strategic Solutions Partners; Chief Administrative Officer, Osceola County, FL; County Administrator, Polk County.

Ken Kiest: Vice President, Jeld-Wen Windows and Doors; Coordinating General Manager, Jeld-Wen Windows and Doors; General Manager, Jeld-Wen Fiber of Washington.

Walter Munchheimer: Director of Financial Management, Palm Beach County, FL; Deputy County Manager, Fulton County, GA; Assistant County Administrator, Escambia County, FL.

Michael Segrest: Senior Consultant, Ralph Andersen and Associates; Town Manager, Moraga, CA; Town Manager, Town of Snowmass Village, CO.

Tom Steele: City Manager, City of West Jordan, UT; Assistant City Manager, City of West Jordan, UT; Development Consultant, Thomas Steele Consulting.
