High Desert Design Council Gears Up for Bathroom Remodel with Saving Grace

Saving Grace is excited to be the 2013 beneficiary of the High Desert Design Council’s philanthropic project. A bathroom remodel is much needed at Saving Grace’s confidential shelter for women and children.  The project commences August 3 and the build is expected to be completed within 15 days.

“The more comfortable our clients are, the easier it is for the healing process to begin,” explains Lauren Biskind development, communications & public relations at Saving Grace.

“This new bathroom will help in our goal of having the shelter be a safe, comfortable space for the families staying with us. Saving Grace is excited to break ground this weekend and see what the High Desert Design Council has in store for the new bathroom. A big thank you to all the volunteers who are making this project possible.”

As the organization’s philanthropic project for 2013, the High Desert Design’s Council (HDDC) is donating member time and resources, as well as securing those from local contractors, service and product providers, for the complete renovation of the bathroom inside the local Saving Grace shelter. The renovation includes all new plumbing fixtures, vanities and storage cabinets, light fixtures, flooring, millwork, and paint.

Saving Grace provides support and services to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. The Bend-area 24-bed shelter was built in 1990 and features just one community bathroom that has fallen into disrepair.

Saving Grace and the HDDC gratefully welcome volunteers and/or charitable donations. If interested in helping in some way, connect with the HDDC via the “Contact” page of their website — www.thehddc.com.
