Heart of Oregon Corps YouthBuild program announce a community partnership with the Deschutes Children’s Foundation and Webfoot Painting for a 9/11 Day of Remembrance Service Project. For the project, YouthBuild trainees will be assisted and mentored by a team of Webfoot Painting professionals in painting the exterior of the Becky Johnson Community Center in Redmond, which is managed by the Deschutes Children’s Foundation.

The project will in fact span a week as the trainees work alongside Webfoot to prep, paint, and put the final touches on the building. Primary painting will take place on the actual Day of Service on Wednesday, 9/11, and all other work will wrap up by the end of the week in order to have it ready for the Latino Community Association’s Festival of Cultures even on Saturday, 9/14. All painting supplies were graciously donated by Sherwin Williams.

The youth will be involved in a project that impacts a building and organization that is very significant to the community of Redmond while gaining opportunities for building job skills and networking with a for-profit company invested in its community. We are grateful to Webfoot for volunteering their time and efforts to work alongside our young people and offer up their expertise.
