Central Oregon Community College Construction Progress

Construction and remodeling projects are underway on the COCC Bend and Redmond campuses. The majority of the construction funding comes from a $41.58-million bond measure approved by voters in 2009 and state funding.

 
The Technology Education Center, on the corner of Veterans Way and Salmon Drive in Redmond, will house technology-centered programs. Concrete walls, structural steel and roof trusses are being installed. Interior and exterior framing has begun on the south wing.

The opening date is September 2014.The purpose of the $1.3-million Grandview Renovation Project is to consolidate the math department into one location and provide SMART math lab space adjacent to math department offices.

During September, computers, phones and furnishing were installed; the project is now complete.The Residence Hall project, expected to provide housing for approximately 330 students, is wrapping up the design development phase.

The site plan application has been submitted to the City of Bend. Completion is scheduled for the summer of 2015.A small portion of the BrightSide Animal Center in Redmond will be remodeled into a lab space for COCC’s new Veterinary Technician program. The partition application was completed and submitted to the City of Redmond for approval.

The architect and consultants have begun the remodeling plans.Ochoco Building, which was originally built in 1964, will be remodeled to house both the humanities and the world languages and cultures departments.

The project began last month with the first meeting of the steering committee. The architectural firm has started its preliminary design work. Classrooms will be completed by fall 2014.
