carvingforkids_2Proceeds from Webfoot Painting sponsored event will go to MountainStar family relief nursery, goal of $7,000.

MountainStar Family Relief Nursery announced that Webfoot Painting will host the 5th annual “Carving for Kids” event on Saturday, October 19 from 10am to 5pm in the Newport Ave. Market parking lot.

100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to MountainStar and its programs to help keep babies and toddlers safe from abuse in neglect in Central Oregon. This family friendly event is open to the public.

Pumpkin carving for kids will be held at the top of each hour with trained volunteers available to help kids design and carve their very own jack-o-lanterns. This year’s event will also feature live music from Rand Berke, Rob Fincham, Yvonne Ramage, and Garth Osborn.
“We’re thrilled that Webfoot Painting is again generously organizing this fantastic event! We encourage families and businesses alike to join the fun this year. I guarantee you’ve never seen pumpkins like these!” says Tim Rusk, Executive Director of MountainStar.

Untouched, pre-cleaned, and pre-carved pumpkins of various spooky designs will all be available for purchase.  Artist-carved pumpkins with business logos for the office or storefront will be available for purchase as well. Businesses interested in logo’d pumpkins can pre-order their pumpkins for pick-up at the event by calling Webfoot Painting at 541-390-0590 by October 17. The Central Oregon Pumpkin Co  out of Terrebonne (known for their massive corn Maize) has donated the pumpkins each year for this spectacular event. Press Pros contributed promotional material, and Newport Ave. Market is proud to host the event on site.

“We look forward to Carving for Kids each year, says Gavin Hepp, one of the owners at Webfoot Painting. “It marks the transition from our exterior painting season to interior painting season. It’s a seriously great team building experience where our trained painters get to draw on their skills and talents in a fun and unique way,” added Hepp.

About MountainStar Family Relief Nursery: Nationally accredited, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery (“MountainStar”) provides crisis intervention and a therapeutic classroom for 350 babies and young children from 6-weeks to 5-years-old in Deschutes and Jefferson Counties. These children come from families with multiple risk factors for child abuse and neglect, including low income, homelessness, mental health issues, domestic violence, and substance abuse.  Children at this critical age represent ½ of the victims of child abuse and are at a stage in their development when it is essential to have attached and attentive caretakers. Relief Nurseries have documented success in reducing family risk factors for child abuse and neglect, improving family functioning and self-sufficiency and reducing foster care utilization.
