Hormone Health and Wellness of Central Oregon Presents Free Hormone Havoc Seminars

0

Mary Huntsman, MD and Jennifer Paulson, FNP, inform and support men and women experiencing the challenges of hormonal imbalance through this seminar.

Innumerable men and women over the age of 35 struggle with symptoms of low hormones. Insufficient hormones can cause one to feel unwell, physically and emotionally, but also puts one at risk for chronic diseases in the future and causes tension in personal relationships.

Mary Huntsman, MD, and Jenifer Paulson, FNP, of Hormone Health and Wellness of Central Oregon, PC, are determined to educate men and women about the signs and symptoms of low hormones, available hormone testing, and inform people about both conventional and groundbreaking options for treatment.

Testosterone, Estrogen, and Thyroid hormones will be the subject of Hormone Havoc, and the numbers related to hormonal issues are staggering:

• Everyday 3,500 women enter into menopause.

• Symptoms of menopause can begin 15 years prior to its onset

• From ages 20 – 40 women lose 50 percent of their testosterone levels

• In a prominent 2006 medical study, almost 40 percent of men over 45 years of age had significantly low testosterone levels.

• Men lose up to 3 percent of their testosterone production per year after age 35

Symptoms of hormone imbalance for men and women may include the following:

• Not feeling refreshed after sleeping

• Mood swings

• Tension

• Lack of sleep

• Decreased memory

• Decreased sex drive

• Depression

• Hot flashes/ Night sweats

• Weight gain

• Joint pain

• Migraines/Severe Headaches

• Fatigue

• Loss of erectile ability (men)

People are often surprised to learn that both men and women experience these symptoms. During menopause, women undergo dramatic changes in their hormone levels and these symptoms appear during that time. For men, the decrease in hormones is gradual, and so the appearance of symptoms may be more subtle.

Commonly used methods for hormone replacement include pills, patches, injectables, and creams or gels. Although these treatments are commonly used, each one has its drawbacks. Dr. Huntsman and Ms. Paulson are excited to offer an innovative method which is new for the Central Oregon area, Bioidentical Hormone Pellets, by BioTE.

Hunstman and Paulson are trained as Certified BioTE Providers. BioTE bioidentical hormone pellets are placed under the skin during a simple in-office procedure, and then release the proper dose of hormones 24/7 for several months. Doses are personalized based on an individual’s laboratory testing and history. BioTE pellets are replaced two to three times per year, offering both safety and convenience.

Dr. Mary Huntsman commented upon her motivation to offer these seminars: “Since 2002 there has been so much information and news about hormone therapy, much of it conflicting or confusing. Patients often come to me not knowing what to do. Because of this, we were inspired to sponsor these seminars so the pros and cons of hormone replacement could be clearly presented.”

The free one-hour seminars will be held on Tuesday, November 12 in Bend and Redmond, and on Wednesday, November 13 in Bend. On Tuesday November 12 Hormone Havoc will be presented at 5:15 and 6:30pm at La Vita Bella Medi-Spa and Laser Center, 631 W. Antler, Redmond.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, November 12 and 13, Huntsman will present this seminar at 12 noon at her clinic, Lifestyle Medicine of Central Oregon PC, 497 SW Century Drive, Suite 120, Bend. Hormone Havoc will also be presented on November 13 at 5:30pm at the Sons of Norway Fjeldheim Hall, 549 SW Harmon Blvd, Bend.
