The Elevated Sports Performance/BendBroadband women’s mountain bike team will begin its first season in 2014 under the direction of team director Sloane Anderson.
The team, based out of Bend will be the first-ever all women’s mountain bike racing team in Central Oregon. The team plans to compete in local and regional XC, Marathon, 24-Hr, Super D, and DH events, as well as the USA Marathon National Championships.
Elevated Sports Performance, LLC, owned and operated by Sloane Anderson,will be providing strength and conditioning as well as coaching to the riders. The team officially began its training in October 2013 and has been strength training 2-3 times a week in addition to other cross-training activities. Sloane, a former professional mountain bike racer during 2003-2012, has high hopes for the team being the premier woman’s mountain bike team in the Northwest region.
Although the team will be in its first season in 2014, that doesn’t mean that they are lacking experience. Sloane feels that several riders will be able to upgrade this season and have the potential to turn professional within a few years. With Bend hosting the 2015/2016 XC Nationals, it gives the team extra motivation. The team is a unique mix of experienced and new up and coming riders.
