Bishops Redefines the Traditional Barbershop Image

Delivering high-end, salon quality services for both men and women, Bishops Barbershop opened in downtown Bend last fall. Owners Jeff and Kitty Foote opened their first shop in Portland four years ago before bringing the edgy atmosphere to Central Oregon.

“We fill a niche in the area that is different from what is offered at national chains, traditional barbershops and full-service salons,” said the Footes. “We have been looking for the ideal community to open our second shop and Bend has everything we were seeking.”

Bishops offers affordable prices in a fun, hip environment that includes complimentary beer for customers 21 and over. Customers can enter on a walk-in basis and be treated to the services of trend-setting stylists all the while enjoying music and a hot cup of fresh coffee or a cold beer.

The a la carte menu of services includes style, shampoo, blow dry and a variety of cut and color options. For men, the shop offers hot towel shaves and mustache waxes. To differentiate Bishops from “traditional” barbershops, more than one-third of its clientele is women.

Affordability is a hallmark of the shop as cuts range from $12 to $28, while a shampoo is just an additional $5. Beard and bang trims are offered as well for $6 and $9, respectively.

Bishops Barbershop already has introduced several special events, including First Friday Art Walk every month.
