Jefferson County Construction Highlights

Jefferson County has numerous construction projects underway, some that were started in 2013 as well as many new projects for 2014. Many of the projects are centered around improving and adding new facilities for schools in Jefferson County with several civic improvements for the City of Madras and the Madras Municipal Airport. 

 
Jefferson County School District 509-J recently approved a Bond Levy for the following school projects:

 
• Madras High School is adding a new Performing Arts Center, new stadium and track. The new stadium is scheduled for completion in August and the Performing Arts Center is slated for completion in fall of 2014.

 
• Jefferson County Middle School recently had a new track built and on site security upgrades installed.

 
• Madras Primary School received new site improvements playground, parking lot and security upgrades.

 
• The Warm Springs K8 Academy is on schedule with an 80,000 square foot building that will include classrooms, locker rooms and gymnasium. Off site improvements also require a new half -million gallon water storage to provide a million gallons for fire flow.

 
Madras Highlights

Madras Schools in partnership with the city is installing new transportation routes with sidewalks and pathways that are being constructed by the city. These new projects are money from a Safe Routes to School grant with new bus paths between MHS and Buff Intermediate that will be realigned to create safer routes and relieve congestion.

The long-cherished vision of a new City Hall and Police Station in Madras has been realized with an instantly iconic landmark off E Street officially open for business and providing a fresh modern face for the community.

The 15,200 square foot municipal hub, designed by Steele Associates Architects as part of a coordinated master plan, replaces the dilapidated “cobbled together” buildings on D Street which for many years housed the city and police administrations in cramped conditions. 

 
Airport

In August of last year the 64,000 square foot Erickson Aircraft Collection Facility started construction for the Erickson Aero Tanker fleet and the soon to be Erickson Aircraft Collection currently stored at the Tillamook Navel Air Station. This is in addition to the recent construction of a 44,000 square foot hanger now leased by the  Erickson Group to store Aero Tanker’s MD-87s for its firefighting operation. Also under construction at the airport is the WWII Veterans’ Memorial slated to be completed in 2014.

 
Jefferson County Courthouse News

“The City of Madras has donated land to Jefferson County near their new City Hall and Police Station for the construction of a new County Courthouse. Jefferson County has applied for a grant and plans are underway for a new 25,000 square foot building for the court house and a new Civic Center,” says RIck Allen of The Lowe’s Group. 


New Commercial Buildings

Jefferson Square in Madras home to the new Cinema Five is planning for several additional business buildings to be available for lease.  

New Commercial Tenant Improvements

Remodel construction is underway at the former Butch’s Bar and Grill with plans for a new pub and restaurant named the Crossroads Pub and Grill.


Jefferson Business Park 

A formerly vacant building in Jefferson Business Park has been remodeled for Three Peaks Fitness Center, which opened in late January.
