The Well Traveled Fork features new classes: Follow the Fork Culinary Camp for Kids. Chef Bette Fraser — proprietor of The Well Traveled Fork —has listened to her hundreds of culinary clients and has taken their suggestions to heart.  They love The Well Traveled Fork’s Cooking Classes, but they need something for their children.

Starting in late June, Follow the Fork Culinary Camp for Kids will debut with a series of weeklong cooking adventures for kids ages 7 – 17 held at Widgi Creek Golf Club.  “Initially we are going to host 3 different camps,” said Chef Fraser, “with four days of cooking and one day with a field trip to a farm or a behind the scenes trip to a bakery or culinary destination.”  Each weeklong camp will have a different theme such as Cooking 101, Baking Boot Camp and Global Cuisine.  The camps will be held in late June, mid-July and mid-August and are priced at $300 per child. With lunch included each day, they run from 10am-1:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

“These will be hands-on classes, something that I always do in my cooking classes.  As I always tell my students, you learn by doing.  Kids need to learn to cook, learn to feed themselves and make healthy food choices for a lifetime. They will also be working on their math, reading and science skills without even realizing it. And at the end of each day, they can enjoy their accomplishments with a meal they have prepared themselves.”

Widgi Creek Golf Club is located at 18707 SW Century Drive, Bend. Parents may want to take in some golf or enjoy the spa while their child is busy cooking. They are also welcome to join us for the farm field trip and learn along with their child.

The Well Traveled Fork offers insightful culinary tours, farm-to-fork cooking classes, catering and personal chef service in the Central Oregon area.  Begin to understand and appreciate what fresh, local, organic, seasonal and sustainable food is all about—Follow the Fork!
