Boat Docks to Be Installed on Popular Lakes

0

Schedules Vary Based On Snowmelt and Repairs. The Deschutes National Forest is beginning to install boat docks at popular lakes around the forest as access allows

The Forest Service will install docks at 18 boat launch facilities across eight lakes on the forest.   Installation schedules depend upon post-snowmelt access.

Public safety concerns will delay installation of the boat launch at Crane Prairie. The boat launch segments have serious decay. The Oregon State Marine Board awarded $10,000 to the Deschutes National Forest, which matched those funds with visitor recreation fee contributions, to fund the repair of the boat launch. It will be installed in July.

The Deschutes National Forest currently is seeking additional funding for repairs on the Crane Prairie Campground docks.

Most of the eleven resorts on the Deschutes National Forest also maintain boat launch facilities under special use permit. Visitors may contact the resort directly to determine current access and launch fees.

For more information about boat launches the public may contact their local Deschutes National Forest Ranger District in Crescent, Bend, and Sisters. Or call Scott McBride, 541-383-4712.
