COCC Offers New Impacting Your Profit Course

COCC’s Small Business Development Center is offering a new course for local companies next month that helps companies drive profit and increase profitability.

Co-sponsored by Bank of the Cascades, Impacting Your Profit is designed to help established business owners or principals identify what drives profit and how to increase profitability. Instructors Cara Kling and Christina Rebel-Otterbach have over 40 combined years of business experience.

According to Beth Wickam of the SBDC in Bend: “After years of working with businesses owners and helping them grow their businesses, we have found that most business owners do not truly understand how to make their business profitable.  They confuse sales or profit margins with profitability.

Along with a group of local business mentors and owners, and Bank of the Cascades, the Small Business Development Center at COCC developed a program that combines workshops and one-on-one advising to help businesses improve their profit.

No matter how much a business generates in sales, the most important key in business is generating bottom-line profit. Profit is what provides opportunities for future growth and expansion. Even in today’s tough economy, there are ways to improve the profit of a business. Owners need to look back at some fundamental principles that were used to build many successful businesses. The bottom line is, if a business is suffering from tight cash flow, exhausted lines of credit and stagnant top-line growth, then the do not have a successful business.”

The course combines three one-on-one advising sessions with three two-hour Wednesday morning classes on October 10, October 24 and November 7 from 8–10. Class location is the COCC Chandler Lab building and the cost is $199. Pre-registration is required: please call 541-383-7290 for more information or to register.
