Bend area’s first destination resort marks milestone with community open house honoring resort’s past, present and future.

When Seventh Mountain Resort opened its doors to the public in 1972, Central Oregon’s population was just 32,800. Forty years and 130,000 people later, the Resort is marking its 40th anniversary with a milestone birthday celebration on Thursday, October 18.

“Unlike most things in life, Seventh Mountain Resort only continues to improve with age and we look forward to the next 40 years of taking care of our visitors, locals and owners,” said Chris Otto, general manager of Seventh Mountain Resort. “Guests of the Resort today still get the same outstanding location, service, and overall experience as they did in 1972, but with all the amenities and luxuries that $20 million in improvements over the past decade have added.”

Among the activities scheduled for the birthday celebration, which takes place from 4-7pm on the Resort’s ice rink pavilion, are property tours, a vintage car exhibit featuring popular vehicles from the Resort’s early days, a DJ, live music from the band Jacuzzi, and of course, birthday cake.

As Seventh Mountain Resort celebrates its 40th anniversary as one of the region’s founding resorts, the property that many Northwest travelers grew up visiting has recaptured all of its original glory and more. From renovated guest rooms and building exteriors, to a new Adventure Center and reformatted dining experience, guests will discover a resort that has remained both true to its roots and forward looking in its vision.
