Mid Oregon Credit Union Celebrates 55th Anniversary

Today Mid Oregon Credit Union celebrates 55 years of helping its members achieve their financial goals.

Mid Oregon was formed as a cooperative in 1957 to provide financial services for teachers who were underserved by mainstream financial institutions. As a result of a few individuals who banded together to help each other, today the Credit Union is available for all those who live, work, worship or go to school in Deschutes, Jefferson or Crook counties. The vision and spirit of that small group is still alive today.

Over the past 55 years Mid Oregon Credit Union has grown from serving the eight original Crook County educators to a membership of more than 21,000. Their current lending portfolio has surpassed $105 million, and since its inception in 1957, Mid Oregon has provided over $627 million in loans to Central Oregonians. Mid Oregon serves over 100 local partner organizations, with Mid Oregon ATMs at St. Charles Medical Centers in Bend and Redmond, Bend Memorial Clinic Bend, COCC campuses in Bend and Redmond, Warm Springs Tribal Credit, and access to over 28,000 surcharge-free machines through the national CO-OP ATM network. With assets worth over $165 million, Mid Oregon continues to expand and provide exceptional service, while developing new and innovative product offerings that provides its members with financial tools necessary for their success.

Mid Oregon Credit Union has a long history of community involvement and support, and is well-recognized for their efforts by winning the Northwest Credit Union Association’s Dora Maxwell award for 13 years running. This award is presented to credit unions for outstanding community involvement efforts.
