Top priorities include maintaining fast permit review and approval times with existing resources and significantly more permit applications, nstall the State’s new e-permitting software program and revisit farm land designations, work with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality to address groundwater protection in south Deschutes County and complete an update of its Code Enforcement Procedures Manual.

The Deschutes County Community Development Department (CDD) has drafted its Annual Report and Work Plan for fiscal year 2013-14.  The document summarizes achievements over the past year and outlines anticipated projects and goals in each of CDD’s four divisions for the next fiscal year. It is available for public review on CDD’s website at www.deschutes.org/cdd.

CDD’s mission is to facilitate orderly growth and development in the Deschutes County community through coordinated programs of land use planning, environmental soils, building safety, code enforcement, education, and service to the public.

The draft Annual Report and Work Plan has been presented for preliminary review and comment to various customer groups including the Deschutes County Planning Commission and Historic Landmarks Commission, and the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners.

CDD Director Nick Lelack highlighted some of the major projects on tap for the year ahead. “Our top priorities will be to maintain fast permit review and approval times with existing resources and significantly more permit applications, and to install the State’s new e-permitting software program, Accela, which will both benefit our customers and save the County money,” Nick said.  CDD will also revisit farm land designations, work with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality to address groundwater protection in south Deschutes County, and complete an update of its Code Enforcement Procedures Manual, he said.

A Public Hearing and Board consideration of approval will be held on Wednesday, June 5, at 10:00 a.m. in the Barnes/Sawyer Rooms at the Deschutes Services Center, 1300 NW Wall Street, in Bend. The public is encouraged to attend the hearing and provide input in this important document.  Feedback about the proposed plan may also be submitted by sending comments to CDD Director Nick Lelack at Nick.Lelack@deschutes.org .
