2013 Rotary Duck Race Kicked-Off

Local Rotarians kicked off the 24th Annual Great Drake Park Duck Race (September 8)  last week at the Deschutes Children’s Foundation East Bend Campus in Bend. Title sponsors are Mid Oregon Credit Union, First Community Credit Union, OnPoint Community Credit Union and SELCO Community Credit Union.

Since 1989 the Great Rotary Duck Race has donated over one million dollars to Central Oregon charities, all supporting children and families in need. In the last five years alone, local charities have received nearly $400,000.

A special presentation was made to the 2012 Duck Race beneficiaries. iCon City, Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Oregon, Healing Reins, Cascade Youth & Family Center, KIDS Center, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery and Shots for Tots were presented a check in the amount of $75,898.

This year’s purchase of Duck Race tickets will support the following charities: The LOFT (Living Options for Teens), Kemple Clinic, The Kids Center, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery, Shots for Tots and Family Kitchen.

This year’s Duck Race is scheduled for Sunday, September 8 starting at 11am at Drake Park. Title sponsors are Mid Oregon Credit Union, First Community Credit Union, OnPoint Community Credit Union and SELCO Community Credit Union. The Kid’s Duck Race is sponsored by BendBroadband and will commence at 12pm followed by the main race at 1pm. Festivities will include live music, food, bounce house, children’s activities, prizes and more.

Duck Race tickets will go on sale July 4 featuring nearly $30,000 in amazing local prizes including a $20,000 auto voucher towards the vehicle of the winner’s choice at Robberson Ford, Lincoln and Mazda.
