NeighborImpact and Art Station host Pottery Games in Preparation for the 12th Annual Empty Bowls Event

The Pottery Games are the kickoff to a frenzy of bowl throwing by local artists from now until November, when over 750 bowls will be used for the Empty Bowls fundraiser event benefiting NeighborImpact. All potters from the community are encouraged to participate. The public is invited to cheer the potters on as they compete for medals in categories such as: the best and biggest bowl, best bowl thrown blind folded, best bowl thrown with no-hands. The event is free on August 10.

The Pottery Games will be held at the Art Station (313 SW Shevlin-Hixon Dr., across from the Les Schwab Amphitheater) from 5-8 pm, Saturday, August 10. Clay and wheels will be provided and John Kinder, will be present to provide assistance to potters.  This year will mark the 12th anniversary of this unique 2-part fundraiser.

“I am proud to be a part of this important event.  It is a great way for local artists to be able to give back using their time and talent, while providing all the bowls needed for the Empty Bowls Event in November,” said Kinder.

“Both of these events are a great community collaboration which enables NeighborImpact to provide vital services for those in need throughout Central Oregon,” said Chris Quaka, communications manager for NeighborImpact.

NeighborImpact, with the support of the Art Station and local artisan potters, is once again holding “The Pottery Games”, a fun, family friendly precursor event to the popular Empty Bowls fundraiser (on November 17 this year).
