0

Construction and remodeling projects are underway on the COCC Bend and Redmond campuses. The majority of the construction funding comes from a $41.58-million bond measure approved by voters in 2009 and state funding.

The Technology Education Center, on the corner of Veterans Way and Salmon Drive in Redmond, will house technology-centered programs. Installation of exterior windows has been delayed due to problems at the factory, so temporary glass is being installed to allow interior work to continue.

The opening date is September 2014.The Residence Hall project, expected to provide housing for approximately 330 students, will begin mid-April. The building is anticipated to be Earth Advantage Multi-Family Gold level certified. Completion is scheduled for the summer of 2015.

A small portion of the BrightSide Animal Center in Redmond will be remodeled into a lab space for COCC’s new Veterinary Technician program. Waterline installation has been delayed by the weather and the permit process.

Opening is scheduled for fall 2014. Ochoco Building, which was built in 1964, will be remodeled to house both the humanities and the world languages and cultures departments. The need for large-scale asbestos removal was not expected and has impacted the budget. Classrooms will be completed by fall 2014.
