The presentation is part of Deschutes Public Library’s “Literary Elements” Summer Reading Program. The program is free and open to the public.
According to Annie Muske-Driggs-Dukes of Bend Research, Tesla changed the way the world was powered and invented things decades ahead of his time.“The most common impression of Tesla seems to be that of an outsider who bitterly fought with Thomas Edison and who stood in a lab while arcs of electricity crackled above him. But that is just part of Tesla’s story.”
Tesla has grabbed our attention. “Besides his importance to the scientific community, Tesla has appeared in everything from movies to video games to webcomics,” says Muske-Driggs-Dukes. He was interested in more than just electricity and motors. “He tackled any problem he found interesting,” says Muske-Driggs-Dukes.
At Bend Research, Muske-Driggs-Dukes primarily works with a Transmission Electron Microscope, a device which uses many of the principles Tesla developed.
